My art has progressed from photography to pixel-based painting and illustration. Although there are elements in my art that may suggest photorealism, I no longer use any photography, beginning each new work with an empty canvas. I apply my own digital “paint,” pushing and pulling areas of color into streamlined shapes and manipulating spaces around them. I am painting with pixels and sculpting with light on a virtual canvas.
My finished images are exposed by lasers onto light-sensitive metallic papers. No inks are used in the process. The prints are mounted on Sintra panels with French cleats for installation. Cast-acrylic faceplates are cold pressed onto the prints, becoming integral to the work.
Recently, I have begun to explore ways to express the translucent, reflective and sculptural properties of glass in my compositions. My new series, Con Brio, represents those efforts.
